The Funeral Prayer for One Who Did Not Pray

Question

There are some Muslims who never performed the prayer in their whole life. Should the funeral prayer be performed for such a person or not?

Answer

The funeral prayer should be performed for him as well. If some leading figure whom people follow (muqtada) refuses to take part in it, that is permissible, provided that others take a lesson from this and begin to observe the prayer regularly.
