Funeral prayer for one killed out of partisan zeal (‘asabiyya)

Question

In “Nur al-Idah” the issue is written that the funeral prayer is not performed over a person who is killed “‘asabiyyatan” (out of ‘asabiyya). The text is as follows: [ar]ولا يصلى على باغ وقاطع طريق قتل في حالة المحاربة وقاتل بالخنق غيلة ومكابر في المصر ليلًا بالسلاح ومقتول عصبية[/ar] “The prayer is not performed over a rebel and a highway robber killed during armed combat, one who killed by strangling treacherously, one who attacked in the city at night with weapons, and one killed out of ‘asabiyya” (p.

What is meant is a person who dies while wrongfully championing one of his ‘asaba (kinsmen): [ar]وفي نهاية ابن الأثير: العصبية والتعصب: المحاماة والمدافعة، والعصبي: من يعين قومه على الظلم، وَالَّذي يغضب لعصبته، ومنه الحديث: ليس منا من دعا إلى عصبية أو قاتل عصبية.
