Calling the Scholars of Deoband Kafirs

Question

People of Barelvi beliefs say that mixing with people of Deobandi beliefs, sitting with them, eating and drinking with them, greeting them with salam, or keeping any kind of contact or relations with them is impermissible; that if a Deobandi (“Wahhabi”) gives salam, even answering it is impermissible; and they also call Deobandis kafirs. In such a situation there is a section of people for whom these circumstances are distressing. What, then, is the ruling of the Sacred Law on this matter?

Answer

The way of the scholars of Deoband is correct: it is entirely in accordance with the Noble Qur’an, the noble hadith, the honoured Companions and the jurist-mujtahids. Whoever calls it wrong opposes all of these; and whoever calls such Deobandi scholars or those connected with them kafirs regards the people of iman as people of kufr.
