‘Allama Fadl-i Haqq Khayrabadi and Mawlana Isma‘il Shahid ﵄
Question
Zayd says that ‘Allama Fadl-i Haqq Khayrabadi was a special pupil of Hadrat Shaykh ‘Abd al-Wahhab Dihlawi and that he issued a fatwa of kufr against the author of “Taqwiyat al-Iman”: [ar]قائل این کلامِ لاطائل از روئے شرعِ مبین بلا شبهه کافر و بیایمان است، هرگز مؤمن و مسلمان نیست[/ar] (“The speaker of this futile talk is, by the clear Shari‘a, undoubtedly a kafir and devoid of faith; he is by no means a believer or a Muslim”) — Fadl-i Haqq Khayrabadi, “Tahqiq al-Fatwa”, pp. 7–8.
Answer
In answer to this I quote from “Arwah-i Thalatha” (“The Three Souls”), p. 370, anecdote no. 400; I hope guidance will be found in it. The respected Khan related: Mawlawi ‘Abd al-Rashid Ghazipuri used to study under Mawlawi Fadl-i Haqq in Rampur. Once he was going somewhere and happened to meet a friend of his.
