The Ruling on One Who Abandons the Prayer

Question

Does the wife of one who abandons the prayer deliberately or out of contempt become divorced or not?

Answer

One who abandons the prayer deliberately is a fasiq and a fajir (a transgressor and an evildoer); according to imam Abu Hanifa he is not a disbeliever. But one who abandons the prayer out of contempt is a disbeliever.
