A Khatm of the Qur’an in Thanks for Iman

Question

If some women gather in one place and recite Surah Ya Sin or the Qur’an in order to renew their faith and in thanks for being Muslims — is that permissible or not?

Answer

To gather and perform a khatm of Surah Ya Sin or of the Qur’an in thanks for iman is not established. Thanks for iman consists in acting firmly upon what iman requires and in abstaining completely from what is not permissible. The recitation of the noble Qur’an or of Surah Ya Sin in itself, however, carries many benefits — both religious and worldly.
