“Fatawa Rashidiyya”: Printing Date and Gangohi’s Era

Question

The edition [in hand] of “Fatawa Rashidiyya” gives 1348 AH as the year of publication. In what year was this book first printed? And in what period did Allama Rashid Ahmad Gangohi live? In “Fatawa Rashidiyya”, in many places after the signature “Rashid Ahmad” it is written “1301r” — is this the date [the fatwa was issued]?

Answer

There is likewise no established research on when this book was first printed. The respected Hazrat Mawlana Rashid Ahmad passed away in 1323 AH, and the collection “Fatawa Rashidiyya” was printed after his death. “1301r” is the date the seal was made.
