Leasing land for several years

Question

Question: (1) A man, out of his own need, has given (lit. “placed”) his three bighas (a local unit of land area) of “raw” land to a man for one thousand rupees, and fifty rupees a year are deducted for these three bighas, so that in twenty years the thousand rupees will be used up. Is this method permissible or impermissible? Spending interest money on a mosque Question: (2)

Answer

(1, 2) If the transaction for the three or six bighas of land is made by giving in advance, in money, exactly as much per year as the annual rent usually is for that land, then it will be a lease (ijara) transaction and correct.
