Giving some property to a non-heir

Question

Question: Please inform us of the Shari‘a ruling on the following matter. A woman named Habiba, who is childless, has the following relatives: Habiba Full mother; husband; full brothers — 3; full sisters — 2. Each of Habiba’s relatives mentioned above is well-off. Habiba wishes to give some share for the sake of Allah (fi sabil Allah) to another person, not a relative, who is in need. Habiba does not want to make a bequest (wasiyya)

Answer

Habiba has the right, while in health and well-being, to give something from her property for the sake of Allah to any needy person and to put him in possession (qabd) of it; the relatives have no right to stop her.
