Giving to the daughter who serves and depriving the others
Question
Question: The respected Khaliq has three daughters from his first wife. After that wife died he married another woman, and from this second wife one daughter was born. Then he married a third time, but from her there are no children at all; the third wife is still alive. Khaliq and his wife have become quite frail, and all four daughters live in their in-laws’ homes. Khaliq called his four daughters to look after him; three daughters refused, and only one daughter agreed to look after him.
Answer
All the daughters will be equal sharers in the estate (tarika). The one who served has attained felicity (sa‘ada); those who refused without any compelling reason are deprived of this felicity, but they will not be deprived of inheritance.
