Performing Hajj with the Tablighi Jamaat

Question

Zayd intends, when he sets out for Hajj to the House of Allah, to join some Tablighi jamaat (group). When ‘Umar heard that Zayd intends to join a jamaat, he said: “By joining the jamaat you will be deprived of the prayers you would perform at the noble House of Allah, because the jamaat will go on da‘wa rounds in the mosques neighbourhood by neighbourhood and will pray there; so obviously you will be deprived of that reward.

Going out with the Tablighi jamaat and working according to its principles fosters care for the soundness of one’s intention; sincerity (ikhlas) is born in the heart; one becomes regular in congregational prayer; one is granted the ability to pray tahajjud; through dhikr (remembrance of Allah) the tongue and the heart acquire intimacy (uns)
