What to do with money left over from funds given for Hajj

Question

(Alif) (the master), in return for the fifty years’ service of his servant (Ba), sent him to the House of Allah, giving him the fixed amount for the “Mughal Line” (a shipping company that carried pilgrims), so that he might perform Hajj to the House of Allah. (Ba), exercising thrift, saved some of the money. Should (Ba) now return this saved sum to (Alif), or may he use it for himself?

Answer

It is better that he present this saved sum to (Alif), telling him that it was left over, and then (Alif) should give it to (Ba) himself and not take it for himself.
