Going for Hajj with One’s Brother’s Father-in-Law

Question

My sister wishes to go for Hajj with my father-in-law and mother-in-law. She has no mahram. May this sister go or not? Will her Hajj be valid or not?

Answer

Your father-in-law is not your sister’s mahram; she is not permitted to make the Hajj journey with him. Although the obligation (fard) will be discharged, there will also be the sin of travelling without a mahram.
