The coming into being of insects and small creatures

Question

Question: Just as, before a human being is born, the angel of the spirit places the spirit (ruh) in him, is the spirit likewise placed in insects and small creatures, ants or living beings of that kind, or do they simply come into being — as they appear in grain, as mosquitoes appear?

Answer

Insects and small creatures too all come into being by the leave of Allah Most High; they do not come into being by themselves. The detailed manner of their coming into being is not known.
