Persisting in an accusation despite an oath on the Quran

Question

Zayd accused Bakr of an indecent act and talked about it among several people in Bakr’s presence. Bakr denied that any such accusation applied to him, whereupon Zayd made him swear on the Holy Quran. Bakr, from a sincere heart, lifted the Holy Quran, affirming that he is free of the above accusation. After the oath, Zayd still defames Bakr with the same above accusation and levels new accusations as well — as though Zayd did not trust Bakr’s oath.

Answer

Accusing someone is a very grave crime. In the noble hadith it is stated that the accuser will be held back on the Bridge of Sirat: “Produce proof of this accusation!” — and as long as he does not produce proof, he will not be able to pass on. This is the ruling of the Hereafter.
