The punishment for slander in the Hereafter
Question
If a person wilfully brings an accusation against someone, what punishment awaits him in the Hereafter?
Answer
Whoever slanders someone will, on the Day of Resurrection, be stopped on the Sirat bridge and told: “Produce the proof of your slander,” and only then will he be permitted to go further. It is a very grave matter. If the one who has been slandered denies it on oath, he will be regarded by the Shariʿa as innocent.
