Claiming to be a resident of Dhampur while living elsewhere
Question
I am a resident of Sherkot. A person asked, and I replied that I am a resident of Dhampur. What is the ruling on this — is it the truth or a lie?
Answer
If a person who is not a resident of Dhampur says, “I am a resident of Dhampur,” then it is obvious that this is a lie. Yes, if his principal place of residence is in the Dhampur sub-district, even though not in Dhampur proper, then in that respect it is not a lie.
