Taking part in Ram Lila and donating to it
Question
(1) The Ram Lila (a Hindu dramatic enactment of the life of Rama) is performed like a stage play; it is full of kufr and shirk, and Hindu worship is performed in it. If someone plays the part of Ram, Lakshman, Krishna and the like, what is the ruling for such a person according to the pure Shari‘a? Is watching it permissible or not? (2) At the Ram Lila, Zayd had a gold nose-ring made and gave it for the wife of Ramchandra (Sita)
Answer
(1) Participation in things of this kind is haram for a Muslim. If he performs worship of other than Allah, he will be deprived of faith (iman) itself. It is impermissible.
