Images on paise and rupees, and reading Huda and the like in the mosque
Question
Is it permissible or not to read, while sitting in the mosque, a book that contains photographic images, for example Huda Digest, which is published in Delhi, and books of this kind? After all, there are images on rupees, paise (small copper coins, fractions of a rupee) and matchboxes, and these stay in one’s pocket; rupees and paise are taken out of the pocket and given in the mosque as a donation. May one look at photos or images of some person while sitting in the mosque, or not?
Answer
The images that are on paise, rupees and matchboxes are generally very small; sometimes it is not even clear whether it is an image of a living being or some flower or the like. For an object with such a small image the ruling is lightened.
