Giving the name Muhammad ‘Azim

Question

Question: I have named my son Muhammad ‘Azim, but a certain gentleman says this name should not be given, because it is a name of Allah Most High, and by giving this name you (Allah forbid) want to make another god. Is giving this name proper or not?

Answer

Giving the name Muhammad ‘Azim is proper according to the Shari‘a. It is by no means shirk; “Muhammad ‘Azim” is not a name of Allah. Rest assured.
