A son captured by the enemy seen in a dream returning from Hajj

Question

Question: (1) The son of a man from Bengal, ‘Abd al-Mubarak (عبد المبارک), was taken prisoner by the Indian army during the Indo-Pakistani war of 1971; since then nothing is known of him — whether he is alive or has died. His father saw a dream: a watch is tied on both of his hands, and someone is saying: “Your son ‘Abd al-Mubarak has come back after performing Hajj.” Note: the father had made a vow (nadhr) that if the boy came back alive, he would send him to perform Hajj. (2)

Answer

The interpretation of the first dream is that the boy, in sha’ Allah, is in a good state, and he has repented of whatever shortcomings occurred from him. (2) In it there is an indication that the father is pleased because hajj-i badal was performed, and the Real Most High (Haqq Ta‘ala) will grant far more than what was spent on the hajj-i badal.
