The Prophet ﷺ saying in a dream: “You will eat with me”
Question
Question: There is a gentleman here, a preacher (muballigh), who regularly goes out with the Tablighi Jamaat and gives talks and the like. During a talk this gentleman related that a certain Mewati (a man from the Mewat region) had gone out with a jamaat; as it happened, he fell ill, and thereupon he said: “Do not cook lunch: I have been blessed to see the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in a dream, and he said to me: ‘Do not worry, tomorrow you will have lunch with me.’” Can such a thing happen?
Answer
Such things are not impossible: if the Messenger of Allah ﷺ feeds someone together with himself, or grants him something by which his stomach is filled, that too can happen. Several such incidents are mentioned in the works of Hazrat Shah Wali Allah ﵀, and such cases occurred before him as well. This usually happens in a dream, and its effects are felt in wakefulness too.
