Earning (kasb) in detail

Question

Question: With which professions may a person have a particular connection in order to keep himself alive? Please explain clearly the necessary professions in order, according to their degree and rank.

Answer

To fulfil obligatory rights (huquq wajiba) it is necessary to earn a halal livelihood. Any profession which the Shari‘a has permitted may rightly be adopted while observing the limits of the Shari‘a. Concerning the ways of earning, Fatawa ‘Alamgiri (p. 349, vol. 2)
