Repelling sorcery through non-Muslim practitioners

Question

Question: In our region, Gujarat, sorcery (sihr) is very rampant nowadays. The moment there is the slightest disagreement or enmity, the opposing party, in order to take a life or to cause distress, has sorcery worked through non-Muslim sorcerers. To repel it, everything was tried — amulets and incantatory practices — but without benefit, although there is some relief.

Answer

In this state of need it is proper to have treatment from him, but in such a way that whatever has to be done he does himself — the bewitched person should not have to do anything: neither eat, nor drink, nor tie on, nor recite.
