The origin of circumcision and its benefit

Question

When did circumcision (khitan) begin? Who first had it done? Where did it first take place, when did it take place, and why did it take place? Kindly write in detail with proofs.

Circumcision is the sunna of Hazrat Ibrahim ﵇; this umma too has been commanded to follow him. Hazrat Ibrahim ﵇ did it by the command of Allah the Pure. One narration shows that he did it at the age of 80. Once a command is followed, there remains no need to search for any underlying reason; (as for)
