The remedy for attachment and love towards a non-mahram

Question

A woman named Sakina developed love for a certain man. At the time Sakina was married, no one knew that this woman loved some unrelated man; she has also given this unrelated man a handkerchief. Now it is not known what kind of love there is between the two of them. Please inform us what course should be taken.

Answer

The consequences of love for an unrelated man are extremely dangerous. She should immediately repent, make a pledge to Allah Most High, and pray that the Real Most High keep her firm in repentance; she should recite the blessed salawat abundantly. In sha’ Allah Most High, the heart will be cleansed of the wrongful love.
