Gold and silver buttons

Are buttons of gold, silver, etc. permissible for a man or not?

Answer

Buttons of gold and silver are not permissible for a man. As for what is meant by “etc.” — the answer will be given once that is known. Editor’s note: however, if the gold and silver buttons are attached to the cloth, then, following the cloth, they are permissible.
