Burning a scorpion for medicine

Question

Is it permissible to make medicine by putting a live scorpion into spirit or not? Putting them into spirit will cause the scorpions greater suffering, and life will leave them slowly.

Answer

A scorpion too should not be caused excessive suffering without reason: it should be killed and then put into the spirit, after which the medicine may be made.
