Eating Bareheaded and Giving Salam While Eating
Question
Is eating with a cap on mentioned in the hadith? Also, what is the ruling on giving salam or replying to it at the time of eating — is that also prohibited, and is it established from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?
Answer
[ar]وَلَا بَأْسَ بِالْأَكْلِ مَكْشُوفَ الرَّأْسِ، وَهُوَ الْمُخْتَارُ، كَذَا فِي الْخُلَاصَةِ[/ar] “There is no harm in eating bareheaded, and this is the preferred position; thus in al-Khulasa” (vol. 5, p. 337) (“Fatawa ‘Alamgiri”, vol. 2, p. 105). From this it is known that a cap is not necessary while eating, and there is no harm without it.
