“Salla Allahu ‘Alayka Ya Rasul Allah”
Question
Some ulama call the recitation of the salat, namely: [ar]صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْكَ يَا حَبِيبَ اللهِ[/ar] “May Allah bless you, O Messenger of Allah, and grant you peace, O Beloved of Allah” — impermissible and a bid‘a, and instead consider the recitation of the Salawat Ibrahimi to be rewarding and of greater merit. Therefore, tell us: what is the ruling on reciting the aforementioned salat and the salawat?
Answer
Reciting the Salawat Ibrahimi is correct and rewarding everywhere, whereas [the formula]: [ar]الصَّلَاةُ وَالسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ[/ar] “Blessings and peace be upon you, O Messenger of Allah” — should be recited upon arriving in the pure city of Medina, standing before the most sacred Rawda [of the Prophet] ﷺ.
