Money owed to the mosque cannot be forgiven
Question
Question: Can the outstanding amount owed to the mosque be forgiven to the mosque’s mutawalli (trustee), the imam or any servant of the mosque such as the mu’adhdhin, when he is in hardship and unable to pay it, or not?
Answer
No one has the right to forgive it; those who wish to forgive it should collect donations and pay on his behalf.
