Prostrating to a Spiritual Guide

Question

Is it correct to make one prostration to Allah Most High and another prostration to the spiritual guides and shaykhs?

Answer

Every prostration is for Allah alone. Prostrating to a spiritual guide is haram, and prostrating to a spiritual guide within the prayer is shirk. In the pure hadith it is stated: had prostration to anyone other than Allah been permissible, the wife would have been told to prostrate to her husband. For this reason prostration must not be made to anyone besides Allah.
