Salat-o-Salam before the Sunna of Fajr

Question

Is it correct to recite, before the sunna [prayer] of Fajr or in the interval between the fard and the sunna: [ar]يَا نَبِيُّ سَلَامٌ عَلَيْكَ، يَا رَسُولُ سَلَامٌ عَلَيْكَ[/ar] “O Prophet, peace be upon you! O Messenger, peace be upon you!” — or not? What is the ruling on expounding virtues (fada’il)

Answer

Speaking about matters of religion and expounding virtues (fada’il) and legal issues (masa’il) is also correct; care should be taken that no disturbance is caused to people’s sunna prayers. However, this time is one of utmost tranquillity: it is better to remain quietly engaged in salawat, tasbih, istighfar and recitation of the Qur’an.
