Drinking Water at the Time of the Maghrib Adhan Is Not Forbidden

Question

The imam of our mosque says that at the time of the maghrib adhan one should not drink water and the like. How far is this correct? Other people also confirm it.

Answer

In the Sacred Law there is no prohibition on drinking water at that time. Among the errors of the common people (aghlat al-‘awamm) certain issues are widespread; this is one of them.
