Not Looking at the Moon of the Third Night and Listening to Its Tale

Question

Women very often say that one should not look at the moon of the third day of the month and instead listen to the tale of the moon of the third day. What is the ruling of the Sacred Law?

Answer

To call it bad to look at the moon of the third day and to listen instead to the tale of the moon is not a matter of the Sacred Law at all; rather, it is taking a bad omen, which the Sacred Law has forbidden.
