Using the Tamarisk Tree

Question

It is widely held among the common people that Muslims consider it very bad to make use of the tamarisk tree, and they say that when Hazrat Ibrahim Khalilullah ﵇ was cast into the fire, the fire started from this tree, and it was this very tree that caught fire. Is this established from any book or not?

Answer

Such a notion and belief regarding the tamarisk is baseless. Hazrat Thanawi has refuted it in “Aghlat al-‘Awam” (اغلاط العوام), p. 5.
