Saying “Ya Rasul Allah”

Question

What is the ruling on saying “Ya Rasul Allah” (O Messenger of Allah)?

Answer

If it is with the belief that he ﷺ is present and watching (hadir wa nazir) everywhere, then it is shirk. However, to say “Ya Rasul Allah” upon presenting oneself at the Sacred Rawda (the Prophet’s ﷺ grave) is correct.
