The Difference Between a Mushrik and a Kafir, and Their Definitions
Question
What is the difference between a mushrik and a kafir, and what is the definition of a mushrik and of a kafir?
Answer
Every mushrik is a kafir, but not every kafir is a mushrik; rather, some kafirs are also non-mushriks. A mushrik is a person who denies tawhid, that is, he does not hold God to be One but holds that there is a partner alongside Him, while not denying God [Himself] either.
