Description

Propyl gallate: esterification of gallic acid with n-propanol under acid catalysis, removal of water and excess alcohol, crystallisation. Gallic acid comes from hydrolysis of tannins of nutgalls or tara. Possible links: the aphid Melaphis chinensis and its excreta inside 五倍子 galls (tannin raw material)
