What is the ruling if the field was also watered from a tube-well?
Question
Is the ruling on the zakat of the spring harvest and the autumn harvest the same, or different? For sometimes one and the same kind of produce is irrigated with both kinds of water — rain and tube-well. So in such a case, how will the zakat be calculated?
Answer
The ruling for both harvests is the same. If rainwater predominates and the tube-well is resorted to only occasionally and slightly, the crop will be regarded as rain-fed; otherwise a half-tithe will have to be given.
