Recipients of zakat

Question

To which people is zakat to be given? It would be good if you clarified this as well.

Answer

Zakat should be given to such Muslims as are poor, are faqirs (poor), and are not sayyids (descendants of the Prophet ﷺ); one’s own close relatives take precedence.
