A Khanqah in a Graveyard
Question
Question: In the small town of Shorum, Muzaffarnagar district, there is a dervish lodge. In this lodge there is a shrine, and around the shrine on all sides is a graveyard. This graveyard is surrounded on all sides by an enclosure wall, in which there were four gates; but the enclosure wall has collapsed, and as a result, instead of four gates, many passages have now formed. A dervish had built a mausoleum (maqbara)
Answer
If that dervish lodge is a waqf for the graveyard and that khanqah is also connected with it, then cutting down the trees and spending the money of their price on repairing this building is permissible. For any dervish to give out betting tips there, or for this place to be used for any other wrongful activity, is not permissible.
