Securing land for a graveyard and madrasa during the consolidation of landholdings by paying a bribe
Question
Government consolidation and redistribution of landholdings was being carried out in our village. There was an order from the government to leave some land for the graveyard and the madrasa, but the officials were not leaving it. Much effort was made, but it turned out that they wanted some bribe. So, under compulsion, one hundred rupees were given to the official for the land of the madrasa and the graveyard, of which fifty rupees were the madrasa’s and fifty rupees were the graveyard’s.
Answer
Since leaving land for the madrasa and the graveyard was a legal right, and this right could not be obtained without money, those who gave the money under compulsion did not become sinners. That land has become the property of both the madrasa and the graveyard.
