Three Mosques Demolished in Delhi: What Should Be Done Now
Question
Three mosques of Delhi were demolished with such brazenness by the Delhi Municipal Corporation, and at any place in India, at any time, there is the danger of such demolition by thugs or municipalities. In such a situation, is India or Delhi considered dar al-aman (the abode of safety) or dar al-harb (the abode of war)? Regarding the demolished mosques, what should the Muslims of Delhi, of India and of the world now do, at the minimum and at the maximum?
Answer
Demolishing mosques is against the law; legal remedies should be pursued. If an unlawful act takes place in some city or country and, despite having the right to do so, no legal remedy is sought against it, the ruling (hukm) of that city or country will not change thereby; it will be regarded as one’s own weakness and failing.
