Why Is Punishment Not Meted Out Immediately for Demolishing Mosques?

Question

Allah Most High immediately punishes people of other faiths for demolishing the shrines of the friends of Allah (awliya’), but why does He not immediately punish those people for demolishing His houses, that is, the mosques?

Where is it established from the Qur’an and Hadith that He immediately punishes the demolition of the shrine of a friend of Allah?
