The Mosque’s Lintel Slab on a Neighbour’s Wall
Question
Those who had the mosque built constructed a chamber of the mosque adjoining one room of my house: trimming the unbaked wall of my house, they set up the wall of their chamber, and, pressing one foot into my wall, they laid a lintel (a concrete roof slab). I complained very courteously to the respected Hafiz about the building of the wall, but he paid no attention and gave no reasonable reply. Was it permissible to do this without the owner’s permission?
Answer
The mosque is the house of Allah. To include someone else’s land in it without the owner’s permission, or to place the mosque’s girder or lintel and the like on his wall, or to open in the mosque such a skylight opening through which another house is exposed to view — this is not permissible in the Sharia; it is a violation of another’s right and a sin.
