Moving the Washrooms Outside for the Needs of the Mosque
Question
Within the mosque compound there are three washrooms, three toilets (places for istinja) and one drinking-water tank with eight taps, built side by side. However, from the very building of the mosque these things were outside the ruling of the mosque in the Sharʿi sense. Members of the community made the whole mosque brick-built and new, but the aforementioned things remain in the old style to this day.
Answer
For the purity of the mosque and to make congregational prayer easier, moving the washrooms outside is permissible. Just as the mosque’s money was spent on the old washrooms, if the mosque’s money is likewise spent on these washrooms, what difficulty is there? However, if there is a difficulty, it is no great matter: let separate donations be collected for it.
