Making up (qada) a sacrifice: its value or two sacrifices the next year
Question
Sacrifice was wajib on a certain man, but he did not make it during the days of sacrifice. May he now pay the value of the sacrifice or not? And if the next year he makes two sacrifices, intending thereby also to discharge the previous year’s sacrifice, will the sacrifice left over from the previous year be discharged in this way or not?
Answer
After the days of sacrifice have passed, it is wajib to give as sadaqa the value of one share of sacrifice; making up (qada) the previous year by making two sacrifices in the future is not valid. Thus it is in “Ghayat al-Tahqiq”, p. 95.
