The Death, Burial Place, and Funeral Prayer of Hazrat Abu Ayyub al-Ansari ﵁

Question

In what year and where did Hazrat Abu Ayyub al-Ansari ﵁ pass away? And who led his funeral (janaza) prayer?

Answer

Regarding the death of Hazrat Abu Ayyub al-Ansari ﵁, it is stated in “al-Isaba”, “al-Isti‘ab”, “Tarikh al-Khulafa”, “al-Ikmal” and other [books] that it occurred in 51 or 52 AH, while he was going on campaign (jihad) to Constantinople; he is buried there. As for who led his funeral prayer, I have not seen an explicit statement of this.
