Written Talaq Given Reluctantly
Question
Question: Zayd and Hinda were husband and wife, and two children were also born to them. After some years a severe dispute arose between the guardians of both, and matters reached the point that Zayd, compelled by his parents, with extreme reluctance gave Hinda a definitive talaq (three talaqs), and Hinda too, under pressure from her parents, took talaq from Zayd and forgave maintenance and mahr.
Answer
If the three talaqs were also given orally, then the major (mughallaza) divorce has taken effect, and now the two cannot live together without halala. Halala is that, on the completion of the ‘idda of these three talaqs (three menstrual periods)
